MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Swatches | Spring 2017

macretromatte_100.jpg

The latest MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolours for Spring 2017 are here! I was completely surprised by this package when it arrived yesterday afternoon. Themed and beautiful packages always make me happy, but this one was on a different level! With very realistic mossy grass as the filler instead of the usual crinkle cut paper and little branches each the home of a tiny ladybug, MAC's PR team did not come to play. Mad props!

COCOTIQUE Unboxing | September 2016

I got my new COCOTIQUE box in the mail a few weeks ago! If you follow me on Instagram, I did a quick story about how this just might be my favorite box so far. I loved it because I think it's a little more well-rounded. Since I've been receiving them, they've had tons of hair items that I may or may not use.

This one had a few hair products, but the rest were skincare or cosmetics -- I loved the balance. Plus, with the temperatures dropping this season, I think the products really made sense. Fall and winter can be so drying for our skin and hair, so I enjoyed seeing samples that were made to retain moisture.

Here's what came in the September box:

  • TriDerma Extreme Dryness Plus | This medical strength cream is strictly business ditching the pretty fragrance and parabens. Apply this to any problem areas and you can also use your favorite lotion/moisturizer without clashing. It even has aloe in it which is great for repairing or healing skin and keeping moisturized.
  • Tree Hut Bare Moisturizing Shave Oil | This shaving formula is thick and packed with oils + butters, so zero nicks and plenty of moisture after you dry off. It smells just as good as any other shaving product, too.
  • Black Radiance Volumisant Mascara | I haven't tried this product yet, but I'll get to it whenever I run out of mascara! It came in black and is supposed to give plenty of volume!
  • Dr. Marder Scalp Therapy Total Relief Shampoo & Conditioner | Light fragrant shampoo and conditioner that relieves itchiness and dryness of the scalp during the dry winter months.
  • Cover FX Clear Cover | Invisible sunscreen that nourishes and protects the skin. Can be worn under makeup and doesn't leave a white cast like most sunscreens.
  • Ginger + Liz Nail Lacquer | 'Icing on the Cake' (photographed) is a clear nail polish with beautiful silver glitter that can be added to any color or worn solo.
  • Novex Argan Oil Deep Conditioning Mask | A Brazilian hair mask that leaves the hair shiny and free of split ends -- package notes that it should be applied every 15 days.

The product I'm most excited to try is the Tree Hut moisturizing shave oil because I don't really have a favorite brand of shaving products! I don't know if that's a good thing or not, but it's true. I do use body oils especially during the colder months, so I'm hoping this will be a nice two-in-one product. Plus, it's full-size! The TriDerma cream should be a hit, too, for any chapped areas this season. I'm actually thinking about adding this one to my purse for when I'm out and about. Cover FX is another great brand that I never really buy, but would always recommend when I worked at Sephora -- it's dermatologist tested, so perfect for sensitive skin.

More than likely, I won't use the hair products again because I'm skeptical and have been a huge Camille Rose Naturals fan. I'm SO scared to try new hair products sometimes because all it takes is one product to disagree with my hair and everything is completely thrown off. Scary, huh? I've found what works for my hair type and I'm satisfied.

Final Verdict: The September box is winning for me!

Camille Rose Naturals Routine w/ Leave-In Collection | Honey, Latte & Herbal Tea

Earlier this month, Camille Rose Naturals released The Leave-In Collection. I'd literally just returned from Denver and was trying to save money, but I've been obsessed with CRN for about 5 months now and I couldn't pass these limited edition products up.

The Camille Rose Naturals Leave-In Collection consists of three leave-in conditioners:

  • Honey: Hydrate | Thicker leave-in conditioner that looks just like honey and actually includes honey which is a great hydrating treatment for hair. (My favorite!)
  • Latte: Define | A creamy leave-in conditioner that smells like a fresh mocha latte from Starbucks.
  • Herbal Tea: Seal & Soften | Sweet-smelling leave-in conditioner with an oilier consistency. Doesn't smell too "herbal" which I appreciate.

According to Janell Stephens, the collection can be use as a three-step LOC method (leave-in, oil, cream) or individually.

While I've used (and loved) several CRN products, I wanted to do my go-to twist-out style with the collection for those who have been curious about them. I'm hoping these come back and become permanent because I love the results...and I know I'll have some empty containers pretty soon. Check out my latest video incorporating the Leave-In Collection in my routine!

Benefit Brow Wax Experience | Ulta Beauty in Frisco

When I walked into the new Ulta Beauty in Frisco yesterday afternoon, I was greeted my several beautiful smiling faces and grand opening sale signs. Seriously, I thought maybe I'd reached the gates of Heaven. The store was perfectly merchandised and stocked with the latest of all things beauty.

Soon after introducing myself for my appointment, I was greeted by the manager and given a quick run-down of the store. Of course, I've been in many Ulta Beauty locations, but this one was huge and had every brand stocked that you could imagine...plus a few new ones I'd never seen before!

Array of Benefit products stocked at Ulta Beauty in Frisco, TX.

Sit down and relax at a Benefit service station while the pros beautify you.

Sit down and relax at a Benefit service station while the pros beautify you.

Ulta Beauty was so nice to invite me to check out the new store. Everyone was super hospitable and personable which I really, really appreciated. I chose to try Benefit's brow wax. It's been awhile since I've let anyone touch my eyebrows, so this was a first in a very long time!

Benefit brow products that are used during the services offered.

If you've ever been to a full Benefit store (there's one in Dallas), the stations look just like these, so you get the same feel. Isn't the vintage mannequin head such a cute touch? 😘

My blogger friend, Stephanie Drenka, actually had her brow appointment right after mine! In the photo above, they're filling in her eyebrows before they wax the excess hair, or any hair outside of the lines. Our Benefit brow girl, Danielle, was amazing. Do y'all see her brows? So strong and ready for fall -- strong brows are in!

I liked that Benefit filled in the brows before waxing. It made me feel better knowing that there would be less room for error...because I think we've all encountered some type of hair traumarama.

The store had a lot of things I'd never seen in an Ulta Beauty store before, too!

  • Benefit gals can work on up to four clients at a time in their space. Honestly, I think it was one of the biggest and best.
  • There are Lancôme and Clinique counters at this Frisco location...which is pretty much unheard of. (Photos below)
  • NYX Cosmetics had a super cool end cap display JUST for brushes. If I've ever seen NYX brushes in an Ulta Beauty (which I don't think I have), they've never looked that fab! 😱
  • There's a FULL side of a gondola display with the full Anastasia Beverly Hills line -- liquid lippies, brow must-haves, and even a spot for the new Modern Renaissance palette 😍

All in all, the square footage at the new Frisco location is insane and big enough to house a larger assortment of products from a variety of brands that we all know and love. So if you're ever looking for new product when it launches, definitely keep this one on your radar! There are also several sweet grand opening deals that you can snag from now through this weekend.

I was invited to experience a complimentary salon service of my choice at this particular Ulta Beauty location. All opinions are my own.

Camille Rose Naturals Review & Routine | Best Twistout Results EVER

camille rose naturals routine

If you've been following me on social media, then you know how crazy I've been going over Camille Rose Naturals! Hands down, this is the best brand I've encountered for my mix of 4-type hair so far and I've tried several.

Have you ever bought that "bomb" deep conditioner or styler just because your curlfriends are ranting and raving about it, but it does NOT work for you? Yeah. Been there, done that.

I'd seen Camille Rose Naturals before on the multi-cultural haircare shelves at Target, but never really thought to purchase it. This heavenly set of products showed up at my door back in April and I've been in love ever since. I've got to share my thoughts and results with y'all! My twistouts have been the juiciest they've ever been using these. I swear they're heaven sent.

1. Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse | Castor & Aniseed Oil

I started by using the Sweet Ginger Cleansing Rinse (or shampoo) which I was super shocked by because I really can't stand any shampoos. There are very few that I'd recommend for natural hair. Not only does it have an aroma of sweet ginger, but it contains castor and aniseed oil. I'd never heard of aniseed oil before, so that one was pretty new to me. The cleaning rinse is sulfate-free as well. The number one reason why I hate shampoos (even some that claim to be sulfate-free) is because they often leave my hair feeling completely dried out after the washing process, but I didn't experience that horror with this one. Thumbs up from me!

2. Algae Renew Deep Conditioner | Cocoa & Mango Butter

I didn't have any of the regular conditioners, so I used the Algae Renew Deep Conditioner I had once a week. THE STUFF IS THE ABSOLUTE BOMB.COM! I'm actually on my second container of it, so I really need to change using it weekly. Honestly, I think it's where the long-lasting moisture has been coming from. It contains cocoa and mango butter, so it's seriously packed with moisture! I also detangled a little bit in the shower with it, too, after leaving in for about 10-15 minutes in the shower and letting my hair take in the steam.

3. Fresh Curl Revitalizing Hair Smoother | Avocado & Castor Oil

Once I hop out of the shower, I dry a little bit with an old t-shirt and begin sectioning my hair to prep for two-strand twisting. I use the Fresh Curl Revitalizing Hair Smoother to detangle with the help of a Denman brush (this is the one I have -- also pictured above). Avocado oil is one of my favorites...and castor oil stimulates hair growth. Keep in mind that this is a leave-in conditioner that can be used on dry or wet hair as well as a detangler. If you're using to detangle before twisting, this product can disappear pretty darn quickly. You might find yourself replacing quite often.

4. Almond Jai Twisting Butter | Sweet Almond Milk & Honey

After the leave-in/detangler, I use a dime size of the Almond Jai Twisting butter. If you have 4-type hair like me (especially 4C) and want definition and plenty of moisture, butters are your best friend! This twisting butter gave my hair life. I actually wore my hair twisted under a cute bob wig on the day of my graduation in the heat (about 8+ hours), and it wasn't dried out after I took it off. Now that's what I call a ride or die styling product! It contains sweet almond milk, so if you're allergic you might want to use another butter options (Curlaide Moisture Butter ingredients seems pretty safe).

The results: JUICIEST, MOST DEFINED TWISTOUT EVER.

Here are some Instagram photos of me using Camille Rose Naturals over the last few months (all twistouts):

So many of y'all have been asking me about the products I've used lately and Camille Rose Naturals is the answer! I'm hoping to do a YouTube video soon, but I've been getting my life together since going full-time content creator and post-graduation. Soon, soon, soon! I promise.

If you've tried CRN, definitely leave a comment below to let me know how the products worked for your and which ones you'd recommend trying next!
