Beau Nash Champagne Bar & Cocktail Lounge Opens at Hotel Crescent Court

An evening at Hotel Crescent Court is not one you want to miss! Their hospitality is always top notch from the divine cocktails and bites to the accommodations. When I heard about the Beau Nash champagne bar and cocktail lounge grand opening, I just knew I had to be in attendance!

My Lyft driver pulled into the driveway to drop me off in front of the mansion-like hotel and I strolled in to see the new-and-improved backlit bar stocked with shiny new bottles and the most beautiful pendant and accent lighting. It is certainly a fabulous addition to the hotel's elegant lobby with a modern, youthful touch.

It wouldn't be a proper cocktail lounge grand opening with a drink or two! I tried the Smoke & Rosemary (below on the left) which is mixed with Avión Silver Tequila, Campari, fresh lime juice and rosemary. If you're a fan of herbal flavors and a smoked finish, you will love this cocktail. This one had quite the kick! Next, I tried the Uptown '86 (below on the right) which I absolutely adored. This one was mixed with Absolut Elyx Vodka, Grand Marnier, peach purée, G.H. Mumm brut champagne -- more my speed with fruity flavors.

Next time, I would love to try the Maple Old Fashioned or the Orchard Manhattan -- anything with bourbon or whiskey for a night cap. This makes a cute spot for after work to grab a drink with the girls or to snuggle up at the bar on a date with your boo. Beau Nash even serves small plates, entrees, salads and desserts on the menu.

Need some food recommendations? Try the popcorn shrimp (the sweet chili sauce is to die for), the tuna poke (so fresh and so yummy) and the jumbo lump crab cakes (this is coming from a crab cake connoisseur).

It's me! I'm with the marketing and PR team for Hotel Crescent Court who were kind enough to invite me to experience the new cocktail lounge.

If you're in the Uptown area, I highly recommend spending an hour or two chatting it up at Beau Nash with a glass of bubbly! And the newly renovated suites are BEAUTIFUL. Whether you're from out-of-town or a Dallas resident, Hotel Crescent Court makes an excellent staycation. Make a weekend of it!

RA Sushi Gives Back with Nicky's Week Menu Benefiting St. Jude

Today kicked off the 13th Annual Nicky's Week at RA Sushi benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital with a special curated menu where 100% of the proceeds are donated from May 22-28. Ever since my visit to Nobu a few weeks ago, I've been craving some good sashimi and seared tuna, so I definitely wanted to try this spot out and share about this thoughtful fundraiser.

About Nicky's Week

Nicky's Week honors the life of Nicholas Mailliard, who lost his battle with pediatric cancer in 2005 at the age of 13. Nicky was the nephew of Rich Howland, one of RA Sushi’s founders. His battle with cancer deeply impacted the RA Sushi family and inspired the annual event benefiting St. Jude.

RA Sushi anticipates to raise over $200,000 this year bringing their overall contributions since its inception in 2005 to $2 million. Cash donations are also accepted. Dallas locations include: Southlake, Addison, and Plano.

My sister and I visited the RA Sushi location in Addison which is an excellent location for busy business professionals in the area who want a solid lunch, happy hour or girls' night out/date night dinner. It's a pretty casual restaurant that still has the swank of an upscale spot. There's even a fire pit on the patio that would be amazing to sip cocktails by in the evening. All of the menu items we had the opportunity to taste were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed each dish.

Here's what we got to taste:

Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it back to the restaurant again before the end of Nicky's Week, but I have definitely found a new restaurant with three convenient locations for me: Addison, Southlake, and Plano. I'm excited to return very soon though! I've been dying to find a restaurant nearby with good sashimi and seared tuna, and RA Sushi has both at affordable prices. Visit my foodie page @Gastronomic Grub for more/future photos from RA Sushi!

Happy Hour at Nobu in Hotel Crescent Court

Outside of Nobu Dallas in Hotel Crescent Court

If you haven't already read about my #BreakForBeauty spa experience at Hotel Crescent Court, you can catch up here. After a full 50-minute relaxing Blueberry Smoothie facial and peel, we all headed downstairs for happy hour at Nobu. This was a little surprise to the afternoon's itinerary and I was super excited because I'd never eaten there...and y'all know I LOVE tasting at new spots to share on the blog and Gastronomic Grub.

Nobu is described as "the world's most recognized Japanese restaurant known for its innovative new cuisine style" by celebrity chef, Nobu Matsuhisa. Located downstairs just near the main lobby of the hotel, Nobu is a convenient happy hour or dinner option for hotel guests and Dallasites alike with excellent dishes and cocktails!

If you're looking for a restaurant with plenty of flavor that is upscale, Nobu is a great spot to add to your list. I've since tried a few other similar places, but I think there are many elements of the dishes that make theirs I'm kinda itching to return. Thank you to Hotel Crescent Court for accommodating me at Spa Crescent and Nobu. I had a fabulous time connecting and meeting a few new bloggers in Dallas!

Lette Macarons is Open in Southlake Park Village!

I've been following Lette Macarons on Instagram for over a month. When I saw that a location was coming all the way from Beverly Hills to li'l ole Southlake (Texas), I was ecstatic. Finally I'd have a macaron spot that I could quickly and easily drive to! Dallas can be a real hassle sometimes. The new shop opened on Friday, but I didn't get a chance to visit and I'd actually stopped at a Dallas macaron spot with a friend that day. I decided to swing by after a very productive Sunday afternoon writing new blog posts to try a box of six macarons. Gotta treat yoself, right? 💁🏾

As I walked in, I was greeted with a sample of the chocolate macaron and I couldn't believe my tastebuds. The store manager, Marina, was super nice and told me a little more about Lette's beginnings as I chose the six macarons for my box. But back to these perfectly crafted macarons! I honestly feel like I've been missing out because I haven't had any macarons quite like these..and when I did a little bit of research as I was munching on my box at home, I found that this is how macarons are actually supposed to be. Anatomy of a Perfect Macaron from blogger, Indulge with Mimi explains and breaks it down perfectly.

Lette has a total of 14 flavors to choose from and plenty of macs to go around! I've looked at the menu several times in the last month, so I pretty much knew what I wanted to try.

These are the flavors I chose (bottom to top; left to right): Earl Grey Tea, Sweet Wedding Almond, Caribbean Chocolate, Sicilian Pistachio, Rose, Salted Caramel.

The flavor that intrigued me the most was the Salted Caramel because the filling was real salted caramel. I didn't realize it until a little bit oozed as I was picking it up. I think I'll always love rose- and pistachio-flavored macarons. Caribbean Chocolate was super rich as it's made with dark chocolate. Sweet Wedding Almond got a FULL reaction from me -- it was DE-FREAKING-LICIOUS. Earl Grey Tea was new to me, but very pleasant.

The interior was fluffy, yet chewy and pleasant -- no air pockets, no crunchiness, none of what a macaron shouldn't be. I know they're a very new shop and I'll continue to see how they do over time, but the macarons were so fresh and consistent. At some shops, I tend to get some that seem fresh and others that are crunchy with air pockets and/or seem stale. I've learned that I've probably been spending A LOT of money on macarons that aren't exactly up to par. These, however, were beautifully made. See my photos I managed to take of the exterior and interior of the Earl Grey Tea and Sweet Wedding Almond macarons -- I practically devoured the rest.

I would absolutely recommend Lette! This is definitely going to be my new macaron spot from now on. Everyone should go show them some love and visit -- you will not be disappointed! Also, follow them on Instagram at @lette.southlake to stay updated on any promotions and special flavors.

Lette is located in Park Village at 1151 S. Southlake Blvd in Southlake, TX

There are also 5 locations in Southern California and online ordering is available nationwide.

Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse in Uptown

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to dine with 4 friends at the new Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse location in Uptown Dallas. I'd been to Texas de Brazil when I was a teenager, but that was a long time ago. However, I did remember that this experience would entail lots of meat-eating...and I couldn't wait. I actually didn't eat very much during the day because I wanted to be super hungry by the time dinner rolled around.

The Market Table

First, our server brought us a few small bowls of the Pão de Queijo which were warm, soft cheesy bread rolls. No one could stop munching on them throughout the evening! We started with the Market Table which is great for non-meat eaters. This pretty much includes everything you need in order to make a salad and more. There are some meats in this area, but nothing heavy compared to what the servers would be bringing around for the main churrascaria.

The Cocktails

The cocktails were delicious and pretty strong! Most of us settled on the Superfruit Lemonade described as VeeV Açai Spirit, Grand Marnier with muddled fresh strawberry, blueberry, lemon in a tall glass over ice. Jamisha of ItMustBeJam had the Caramelized Pineapple Old Fashioned described from the menu as Bulleit Rye Whiskey, muddled caramelized pineapple, orange, Luxardo cherry, served over ice.

Cocktail descriptions from Fogo de Chão's website.

The Main Churrascaria

How It Works

  • There is a little round card at each place setting that begins on its red side which tells the servers that you do not want any meat served at that time; when it is flipped to green, they will keep the options coming, so brace yourself and be ready to eat!
  • There are a pair of personal tongs at each seat to receive the meat from the server. Sometimes they will place it on your plate for you, but sometimes they may need your assistance.
  • Keep in mind that even if your card is on green, you can still decline any meats you do not want and they will tell you the type of meat when they arrive.
  • For those who like their meat cooked a certain way (personally, I like well-done), all you have to do is tell your server and they will get it for you.
  • You are also able to request meats. For instance, if you're a sausage may request it to be served.

This part was so much fun! With our cards flipped to green, we were ready for them to bring it on. The servers were all very nice and had great personalities that made us all feel welcome. They also brought a small plate of four sauces that we could pair with the meats and the caramelized plantains (SO DELICIOUS), more pão de queijo (cheesy rolls), and garlic mashed potatoes for the table. We even had jumbo shrimp cocktail served with malagueta cocktail sauce. I didn't have any shrimp since I can sometimes breakout from allergies, but everyone told me it was really good!

Overall, our experience at Fogo de Chão was fantastic and everyone enjoyed themselves. I'd certainly recommend it especially if you like buffets, but not those nasty ones where people breathe and hover all over the food as it sits under a light for hours. Fresh food only, here. You really get what you pay for at Fogo and you'll be pleased with the service! I think it's perfect for family dinners, special occasions, date night, or just dining with friends. You will probably catch me here again for the happy hour menu and another cocktail soon.
