BRUNCH | Max's Wine Dive: Red Velvet Pancakes + Mimosas

Last weekend was full of brunches. In fact, after a total of four during the weekend, I was pretty much ready to roll home on Sunday afternoon!

My best friend was on the hunt for a Friday brunch spot since she was flying out on Saturday. Initially, she'd chosen Henry's Majestic which I was SUPER excited about, but turns out they only serve brunch on Saturday and Sunday. We ended up settling on Max's Wine Dive in West Village on McKinney Ave. West Village is definitely one of my favorite hangout spots in Dallas, so I was immediately down for it.

Brunch at Max's is served from 11AM-3PM on Fridays and our party arrived at 1:30PM. It was very low-key and almost empty when I walked in to wait for everyone. No waits, no lines -- perfection. Since it was still a weekday, most people were in the middle of their workday.

Once everyone arrived we sat down on the patio and ordered mimosas. They were only $3.75 each, so they were very affordable and you won't break the bank if you're in the mood for multiple.

I'm not a huge fan of red velvet anything, so I'm not sure why I decided to order The R.V.P. (or red velvet pancakes). While I didn't love them and barely ate mine, I'd probably recommend them to someone who is a serious lover of red velvet -- it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Next time, I'll probably get something with chicken because the other dishes at the table looked amazing. The plate below is Max's Famous Southern Fried Chicken. *faints* This looked like a soul food dream. Even the Max'n'Cheese had me damn near salivating because you can add bacon, lobster, or chicken for an additional charge; we had a few of these ordered at our table.
