This post is sponsored by Cantu. Products were sent to me to try and review; however, all opinions are my own.
Last week, I received some products to try from Cantu’s new Shea Butter Natural Hair collection. I introduced the product on Snapchat and wanted to know if anyone had personally tried the products and I received mixed reviews! When I hear a little bit of everything about a product or line, it makes me even more excited to try them because I’m anxious to know how they’re going to work for me.
I’d actually never achieved a perm rod set before this week and I thought it would be the perfect time while trying out the new Cantu Natural Hair collection! I only used the Cantu products for my entire process, and I’m very pleased with the results. Usually, I’ll rock a wash-and-go or a twist-out, but I really love the definition achieved with the perm rods!
Check out the products I used to achieve this look below:
I started by using the Sulfate-Free Cleansing Cream Shampoo to remove any product buildup; I don’t always shampoo each time I wash my hair. After rinsing, I pumped the moisture back into my hair with the Sulfate-Free Hydrating Cream Conditioner. You want to make sure you’re working from the root to the ends and evenly distributing the product! I applied a dollop of the Leave-In Conditioning Cream to four sections of my hair before styling and detangled with a wide-tooth comb. To get my strands sleek and straight before wrapping around on the perm rods, I applied the Twist & Lock Gel and gently worked my way through each small part with a Denman brush. I covered my hair with a satin bonnet and let my hair dry overnight. The next morning, I gently unraveled my new defined curls from each perm rod with oil-coated fingers to reduce frizzing. Voila!
One thing that I’m always talking about on my Instagram and Twitter (I almost sound like a broken record) is that there’s no such thing as the perfect hair texture or curl pattern! I certainly represent the kinkier and coily hair textures out there with my 4-something hair. Most women consider looser curl patterns as more beautiful and that is not exactly the case! While all curl patterns are gorgeous and I’m so glad that we’re finally embracing curly excellence more than ever in 2015, I urge women with tighter curl patterns to embrace it. Be Your Own Beautiful, ladies!
