COCOTIQUE Unboxing | July 2016
Last month, I talked about the contents of my June (and very first) COCOTIQUE box. I mentioned that I'd be eyeballing this particular beauty box for months, so I was extremely excited to give them a whirl. Last month was amazing! I enjoyed seeing indie and lesser known brands geared towards black women in the box. I'd never seen that before and it was pretty refreshing!
Same beautiful packaging this month -- espresso-colored box with 5-8 samples and full-size products wrapped in crisp, gold tissue paper with the ends bound with a branded seal.
I set the product information card aside until I could get the seal broken and was presented with a mix of Luster's Pink and You Be-Natural. Y'all remember Pink from your childhood? Well, they've rebranded quite a bit! I actually attended their launch event for these products in Dallas last season. There's now more of an appeal to naturals with the inclusion of natural ingredients.
I'd seen You Be-Natural before at natural hair events, but never realized that they were also a Luster's brand. Out of everything, I'm most interested in the You Be-Natural scalp soother ointment. Sometimes my scalp gets a little dry, therefore, making it a bit itchy and I need something to soothe it.
I'm not bit on edge control and super slicked edges, but I did use the Pink Edge Smoother Gel for a fro-hawk yesterday and it rocked. It had super serious hold and left my edges rather obedient. 😂 Didn't experience any flaking either!
Here's what came in this month's COCOTIQUE Box:
- You Be-Natural | Botanical TKO Leave-In Detangler (full size)
- Pink | Edge Smoother Gel (full size)
- Pink | Oil Moisturizer Original Hair Lotion (deluxe sample)
- Pink | Jojoba & Grapeseed Oil (deluxe sample)
- You Be-Natural | Botanical 3-n-1 Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner (packet sample)
- Pink | Moisturizing & Silkening Conditioner (packet sample)
- Pink | Sulfate-Free Shampoo (packet sample)
While I did enjoy this box, I really do wish there were more You Be-Natural products in it! There were only two versus the five Pink ones. I wouldn't typically use a lot of Pink products and You Be-Natural seems to fit the types of products I buy. However, I do think it's nice that they made this box a mix of the two lines. COCOTIQUE kept in mind that not every black woman is natural even though there is a spike in the lifestyle recently. There's was a little something in here for everyone in this month's box.
