Current Morning/Night Skincare Routine | November 2016

Skincare is very important to me. In fact, I actually think I love it more than makeup. I'm always switching up my routine, but I wanted to talk about my most recent routine because it breaks down to several newbies and old favorites that I want to share.

Morning Routine

Cleanser | derma e Purifying Gel Cleanser ($15): I was using this cleanser during the summer and fell in love with it. It's so gentle and excellent for those with sensitive skin. The charcoal also helps brighten and even your tone eliminating any dark spots.

Toner | Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater ($7): I'd been using this spray for weeks when I realized that it is not considered a toner, but rather a refresher that can also be used as a setting spray for makeup. Oops! A few months later and I'm still using it as a toner. Whatever works, right?

Treatment | Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations Custom Concentrate ($95): Ever since my appointment to create my very own custom concentrate with Kiehl's in Highland Village, I've been incorporating it in my lineups. I didn't experience any crazy PMS breakouts this month, so this may or may not be the gem that helped me save face (pun totally intended). I massage 2-3 drops into my skin and it gives such a beautiful natural-looking glow instantly.

Moisturizer | Kiehl's Breakout Control Acne Treatment Facial Lotion ($48): I recently decided to add this to my daily routine, so I haven't been using it very long (approximately one week now)...but I'm already seeing changes in my skin. I think it's working well with my custom concentrate. I use this lotion as a moisturizer in the morning. I have some dark spots that are only on one cheek and they are starting to disappear after using daily (twice a day) for only 5-7 days.

Night Routine

Cleanser | Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil ($32): The Midnight Recovery collection from Kiehl's includes some of the most lit skincare products I've ever used. They're definitely on my list of nighttime routine must-haves. The concentrate is my fave (pissed that I lost my bottle), but my eyes lit up when I saw that Kiehl's was giving me a bottle of the cleansing oil. I guess you can say that it has kind of made up for the loss. It can be used to break down makeup easily and cleanse the skin.

Toner | Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and RosewaterI use this "toner" at night, too. I don't really switch up toners from day to night.

Treatment #1 | Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations Custom ConcentrateIt was recommended that I use my custom concentrate both morning and night. Just 2-3 drops and massage into the skin -- same step.

Treatment #2 | Kiehl's Breakout Control Acne Treatment Facial Lotion: At night, I use the acne facial lotion as a treatment rather than a moisturizer. It is also suggested that the lotion be applied 2-3 times throughout the day, so this makes my second application before bed.

Moisturizer | The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Sleeping Cream ($39): This sleeping cream sat on my shelf for months until I was whining about not having a night cream to use. I picked up the jar and realized that The Body Shop already blessed me with this one! It's packed with several oils, but the orange peel oil is the most prominent in scent. I'm not really sure if this has gotten rid of any blemishes, but I do know that it helps pump the "good oils" into the skin after the "bad ones" have been cleansed. I love seeing nighttime products nourish the skin overnight and this sleeping cream gives a nice morning glow. It's exciting!

Favorite Facial Masks

I have tons of masks, but lately I've been using The Body Shop Expert Facial Masks ($28/ea). There are five in the collection that I recently reviewed. My favorites right now are the Himalayan Charcoal (perfect for detoxifying and exfoliating), Ethiopian Honey (wonderful hydrating option), and the Amazonian Açaí (which is super energizing).

I'm always looking for new skincare products to try! What are you using right now?
