PÜR Cosmetics Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation | Swatch + Review
A few weeks ago, PÜR Cosmetics sent over their new Hydra Fluid water serum foundations. They arrived just in time as I'm quickly running out of my NARS All-Day Luminous Weightless foundation and need to restock! It dawned on me that this super lightweight formula was "hydrating" which doesn't always wear well with oily skin (I'm an oily skin babe), but I decided to give it a try anyway.
The Skin Type
Below are the five complexion shades that are available in the Hydra Fluid. Each tube is enriched with water from the Swiss Alps and is perfect for those with dry skin who need some hydration in their routine. It's even better for winter when the cold typically leaves the skin drier than usual. Personally, as a Texas gal, I think it would be great during the summer when you'd like to achieve a fresh, barely-there face on a hot day.
Oxidation & Wear
With oily skin, I found myself having to seriously prep and finish when applying this foundation so I wouldn't end the day shining or melting but, nevertheless, it achieved exactly what it was meant to. My shade (dark) also matched my skin tone rather well especially after about 10 minutes, so I think they may oxidize a bit after applying. Without primers or anything, my face was ridiculously oily by the end of the day...but when I took the proper pre-cautions, I was fairly okay after approximately 6-8 hours of wear (shine had begun to peek through).
If you're looking full coverage, this is not the product you should be adding to your beauty wardrobe. If you're looking for light to medium coverage, this is perfect for you! You will literally feel like you're not wearing any makeup at all, so no feeling cake-y or having makeup all over your hands whenever you touch your face. The Hydra Fluid will definitely give you a more natural finish. As you can see in the photo above, some of my "imperfections" are showing through the foundation a little bit.
Swatches & Complexion Range
Compared to other beauty brands, the complexion range really isn't that huge. PÜR could possibly expand a little bit, but I think they've done a decent job coming up with shades that will either warm up or cool down to a person's complexion and undertones.
The Beauty Verdict
If I were looking for a lightweight foundation to rock during the summer, I might go for this one. Since I wholeheartedly believe in full coverage, this would not be at the top of my personal list for everyday foundations; however, for those who prefer a lighter, fresher look or who need hydration in their makeup routine, I would certainly recommend the Hydra Fluid.
Tip: Cover any blemishes with the Cameo Contour or a concealer closest to your shade prior to application to achieve "full coverage".
The Hydra Fluid Water Serum Foundation is a buildable, light to medium coverage foundation priced at $39. The foundation can currently be found at PÜR Cosmetic's website as of January 18th, and will be available at ULTA and Kohl's this upcoming week on February 7th.
