Creating an Outdoor Staycation | Apartments & Small Spaces
This post is sponsored by At Home; however, I had 100% creative freedom and hope you enjoy!
A few weeks ago, I shared the inspiration for my latest balcony project. It's summertime and I figured I should be able to relax on my balcony in space that reflects my chic personal style! After spending three whole weeks of gathering decor from At Home (formerly Garden Ridge), I think I've successfully decorated the balcony of my dreams. Don't worry! I didn't forget to take before and after photos so you could see the oh-so drastic change since I started completely from scratch. See?
The difference is like night and day, and the best part is that I didn't need a ton of pieces to create this look! Keep on reading for my decor details... *wink*
At Home has an amazing clearance sale on several of their pieces which equals more money in the pocket! I snagged this cute white metal side table for half of it's original price and topped it with a few pieces that add to the vibes I wanted to create. The white brightens up the look as well.
The ceramic Buddha head added just the right pop of color and y'all know how much I love yellow. Greenery was absolutely needed to fill in the space between the figure and beverage dispenser, so I chose a money tree plant (also known as the Pachira Aquatica) for good feng shui.
I invited my boyfriend over for the day to enjoy this gorgeous newly-decorated space over street tacos. We both thought it beat going out to a restaurant. Why go out when you can eat dinner in such an intimate space like this? I'll wait!
The one thing I really wanted for my staycation balcony was a beverage dispenser. I didn't want anything too big and bulky since it's for personal use. At Home had tons of options for great prices. Honestly, I expected to spend quite a bit more on this...but I was shocked when I peeped at the price. Only $9.99! It was unbelievable.
If you remember the digital layout I created during the planning process, I originally had string lights along the railing. Instead, I decided to wind three sets of lights around the base of my side table and chairs for a warm, soft summer glow.
I placed lanterns with a set of remote control candles at the front corners of the synthetic grass carpet I purchased from a home improvement and construction store to keep the corners down. I don't recommend leaving the faux candles outside during the day as they're made of real wax and will absolutely melt/distort.
Bromeliads are my most favorite house/patio plants, so I added a few to add an exotic and tropical flair.
I chose two low-back sling chairs in black so I could keep them out from season to season, and added a decorative pillow to each. My space definitely needed some print and these are reversible, so I can play with two patterns at once or the same pattern. They make the chairs super comfy and tie-in with my yellow theme.
I'm so proud of my space and glad that I was able to bring my vision to life! Now I can relax and enjoy the rest of my summer with a staycation at my own apartment. I haven't been able to stay inside all week because I'm so excited!
