The Crowned Brunch with Michael Costello
I was fortunate enough to have been invited to The Crowned Brunch with designer Michael Costello at the historic Adolphus hotel's French Room last Sunday. It was absolutely fabulous! If you've never been to the Adolphus, it's definitely worth taking the time to visit on a quiet Sunday. The public and media were invited to an exclusive conversation with season 8 Project Runway finalist, Michael Costello, over a delicious three-course brunch and high tea.
The French Room's doors opened at approximately one o'clock and we were offered a glass of bubbling champagne when we entered the double doors. I scanned the name cards on the perfectly set tables for my name -- I found it on the table marked '7'. I was seated with a few bloggers I already knew; the lovely Vanna Collins of The Vanna Collins Show, and ShantaQuilette of Style Follows Her.
As soon as I found my seat, my eyes couldn't help but wander towards the beautifully painted ceiling with intricate molding. There was so much inspiration in this room!
The 18th century romantic artwork and grand chandeliers were stunning. No wonder this place is nationally recognized and award-winning! Seriously.
Our first course arrived with an assortment of delicious fruits that were perfectly sweet.
After our second course arrived, the conversation began! I ordered the herb brined chicken over toasted brioche with scrambled eggs. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm not an egg person, but this was actually very delicious!
Guests and media were free to ask Michael Costello questions about his career in the fashion industry. Questions were asked about his inspiration, life, and his career! If you didn't know, Michael Costello has designed for the Kardashians, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé for her recent On The Run tour with Jay Z. Amazing, right? Although I'm not a designer, it's still so interesting to hear about how designers get their inspiration and how they achieved their goals.
As soon as the question and answer segment of the afternoon concluded, the staff served fresh tea and scones to the tables. We were free to mix and mingle as well as take photos with Michael Costello!
These cupcakes and pastries from Sweet Thangs by Lo were so delicious! Like, to die for.
My picture with Michael Costello! I'm wearing my envelope collar Marc New York dress and a super cute statement necklace from H&M! There are also more pictures on Facebook that I'm in from Vanna Collins, here.
I'm so happy that I was able to attend this beautiful event and share the experience with you all! It's always a grand opportunity when I get to hear someone so prominent in the industry speak, especially as a college student studying fashion. That is inspiration to me in itself!
